Dedication of the 2019 Catholic Circle of Faith home.
Our build this year is located at 1244 McCormick St, Des Moines. We will follow GDM Habitat's plans for the 1110 Heartland Reversed, a three-bedroom split level.
We'll need volunteers onsite at1244 McCormick St. starting Wednesday, July 8th. Most volunteer days are Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Workdays are from 8am-4pm with a lunch break from 11:30am – 12:30pm. Habitat for Humanity is limiting CCOF volunteers to 7 per day. The overall maximum number of people allowed onsite at any time will be 10. Each individual should sign up online by Monday, the week prior to the desired shift day. Volunteer online here: CCOF Volunteer Registration
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, GDM Habitat has implemented the following protocols to minimize contact and ensure the health and safety of our volunteers and staff.
Please note: If you feel any signs of illness or have been in contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 in the last 14 days, please stay home! Your health and the health of those around you are our first priorities.
We ask that all volunteers practice good hygiene.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth as much as possible
Cover your mouth and nose with your elbow if you have to cough or sneeze. Dispose of used tissue immediately.
When washing your hands with soap and water, make sure to lather your hands for 20-30 seconds.
If using hand sanitizer, ensure coverage on all parts of the hands and rub hands together for 20-30 seconds until dry.
Work gloves, safety glasses, and hard hats are provided to each volunteer for their own individual use. Volunteers will help clean their Personal Protective Equipment or PPE (hard hats, safety glasses) before and after use. You can bring your own gloves, or GDM Habitat can provide you with a pair. Gloves provided by Habitat will be laundered between use. Habitat will also provide all cleaning materials.
We require face masks to be worn indoors by all staff and volunteers. When working outdoors, we require face masks to be worn if you will be within 6 feet or less of another person. Your construction manager will determine what outdoor tasks can be completed while maintaining social distancing without a face mask. GDM Habitat will have a supply of masks available for volunteers, but if you have your own face mask, we encourage you to bring it with you.
While wearing face masks, be sure to monitor your heat and exertion levels to make sure you don’t overheat.
Take breaks and hydrate as needed.
No more than 10 people will be on site at a time. When possible, we ask that you practice social distancing where each person remains 6-8 feet apart.
We will not accept drop-in volunteers. Volunteers who have not signed up online will be asked to leave.
Core Crew must sign-up with Tami by Monday evening on the week of their desired shift(s)
Please bring your own water bottle and enough water to last throughout the day. No communal water will be provided.
We ask that volunteers do not bring communal food with them to share with others (coffee, pizza, donuts etc). Any food brought on site should be for individual consumption or individually packaged to share. Volunteers will be responsible for providing their own lunch. There will be no lunches provided by CCOF church partners at this time.
Port-a-potties are cleaned/sanitized on a daily basis. We ask that everyone sanitize the door handle after use.
The Habitat team will designate an area to place personal items within the construction site.
Hand sanitizer will be available for volunteer use. Note: Hand sanitizer has high alcohol content. Please use caution around open flames.
