The Community Inclusion Committee serves individuals or families of individuals with disabilities by enhancing their experience while at Mass or church events. Their goal is to addrss the needs of individuals with disabilities, so they can actively participate in the life of the parish. They also assist in connecting members of the community to resources and services in our Diocese, for instance, parent support groups.
Lisa Arechavaleta, besides her role as chairperson of this ministry, is our Parish Disability Advocate, acting on behalf of persons with disabilities to ensure that all are invited to share in the life of the parish. The advocate serves as liaison between persons with disabilities and their parish and between the parish and the Diocese Office of Disability Ministry.
She welcomes hearing from parishioners with disabilities, or their families, on what the parish can do to be more welcoming to persons with disabilities. If you have questions, need support, or want to become involved in this new ministry please reach out to Lisa.
