Fleece Days, the parish fleece blanket project sponsored by the Life After Fifty group, will take place on Wednesday, October 25 and Thursday, October 26. Any adult in the parish is welcome to come for an hour, a couple of hours or both days to help. If you have a rotary cutter, scissors, cutting matte, long ruler, or any other tools that you think would be helpful, please bring them along. If you bring a rotary cutter, we will put a new blade in when you leave so you can start fresh on your next project.
If you would like to donate fleece, 2 ½ yards of a print and 2 ½ yards of a coordinating solid are needed for each blanket. If it is easier for you, Sally Duer will watch the sales and do the shopping for you. She has a bit of an addiction to fabric stores so she loves doing it. Please email Sally Duer, or call her at 515-491-8529 to make that happen. This year the cost is running about $30 a blanket, but cash donations of any amount will go towards buying fleece.
Since 2009 (apart from 2011, 2020 and 2021) we have completed 685 blankets that were donated to various organizations with survivors of human trafficking being the number one recipient. Families from our Presence Under the Tree collaboration with Altoona Grade School will also receive blankets.
