When: Three TuesdaysMay 1st, 8th & 15th 5:00-9:30 pm
(a light dinner will be provided for you)
Where: Skidmore Conference Room of the Bright Center Building401 Railroad Pl West Des Moines (by Valley Junction)
Listed below are some business items that we will need to take care of in order for you to volunteer with us. Requirements for our volunteers include the following:
Driver's License On the first day we need to verify that you have a current driver's license. Please bring your drivers license so we can see and record the expiration date.
Insurance We need to verify that your car insurance is up to date so please bring the proof of insurance card that you keep in your car. We will record the expiration date.
TB test and Immunizations It is mandatory that all of our employees and volunteers have had a 2 step TB test in the past 12 months. The TB test will be at Hospice of Central Iowa’s expense. We will give you more information on where to obtain the test at the training.
Background Checks You will be asked to complete and submit forms authorizing the release of information for the following background checks. - Iowa Health Care Facility Record Check
- Dependent Adult Abuse Registry
- Release of Child Abuse Information
Confidentiality Critical to the hospice environment is the assurance of confidentiality of patient information. In the course of the orientation you will be trained and we will discuss what that means and entails. You will be asked to sign a confidentiality commitment form.
