Based on the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 25, Parish Social Ministry coordinates parish efforts of outreach, keeping in mind Catholic Social Teaching and the dignity of each person. The committee has components of education, advocacy and direct service, and is comprised of members of various organizations of the parish that are engaged in social justice activities.
Since 1972 the US Conference of Catholic Bishops has designated October as "Respect Life Month." We lift up all the issues that affect the life and dignity of the human person, including abortion, poverty, the death penalty, euthanasia, war, immigration and deportation, persons with diabilities and human trafficking.
